The American Heart Association, in collaboration with Independence Blue Cross (IBX), unveiled the new location of the Mobile Hands-Only CPR Kiosk at the Independence Visitor Center, the official visitor center of Independence Historical Park in Philadelphia. Free, self-guided CPR training is available again at one of Philadelphia’s most highly visited public spaces.
Sponsored by IBX, the interactive kiosk is designed to empower community members with lifesaving skills through fast, accessible Hands-Only CPR education. The kiosk originally launched at the Visitor Center in 2017 as Philadelphia’s first Hands-Only CPR kiosk and is returning during American Heart Month, as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary. Throughout most of 2025, the kiosk was hosted at Spectrum Health Services in Philadelphia.
The event featured remarks and a live Hands-Only CPR demonstration from leaders representing IBX and the American Heart Association. Dr. Richard Snyder, executive vice president and chief operating officer at IBX, spoke at the event and highlighted the company’s commitment to removing barriers to CPR education and increase bystander response in emergencies.
Sudden cardiac arrest remains a leading cause of death in the United States, with nearly 90% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests resulting in death — often because CPR is not started quickly. Hands-Only CPR can double or triple a person’s chance of survival, making public access to training a critical component of community health and safety.
