Penn Township, Independence Blue Cross, and National Fitness Campaign provide free fitness for everyone in West Grove

State-of-the-Art Outdoor Fitness Court® Comes to Penn Township Park!

Penn Township, Independence Blue Cross (IBX), and National Fitness Campaign (NFC) announced a partnership to bring an outdoor Fitness Court® and digital wellness programming to Penn Township.

The Fitness Court, located at 260 Lewis Road, West Grove, PA, opened July 29, 2026 at 10 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Representatives from JB Fit Foundation and the Avondale Fire Company demonstrated each of the seven exercise stations and participated in a friendly challenge event.

This Fitness Court was developed by Penn Township, IBX, and NFC to expand free access to high-quality workouts and create equitable access to exercise for communities across the region. The Fitness Court lets users leverage their own body weight to get a complete workout using seven exercise stations.

Created for adults of all abilities aged 14+, the Fitness Court workouts are adaptable for all fitness levels, allowing participants to move at their own pace. Users can also download the free Fitness Court App which acts as a coach-in-your-pocket and enhances the outdoor gym into a digitally supported wellness experience. Penn Township is one of the first campaign partners building a network of Fitness Courts across the region, with the help of Independence Blue Cross.

“The addition of the Fitness Park to Penn Township marks an exciting milestone for southern Chester County. Through our partnership with Independence Blue Cross and the National Fitness Campaign, we are bringing a world‑class Fitness Court to our residents, nonprofits, and businesses —an investment in health, community, and the future of public wellness,” said Victor Mantegna, Chair, Penn Township Board of Supervisors. “This project reflects our commitment to creating vibrant public spaces where families, neighbors, and visitors can come together to stay active and connected. We are grateful for the collaboration that made this possible, and we look forward to seeing the Fitness Court become a cornerstone of healthy living in Penn Township.”

“At Independence Blue Cross, we believe everyone deserves access to safe, welcoming, and easily accessible spaces that support healthy living – and the new Fitness Court in Penn Township reflects that ongoing commitment. By investing in partnerships that promote physical and mental well-being, we are helping build healthier, stronger communities for generations to come,” said Mitch Vidovich, Independence Blue Cross Vice President of Government and External Affairs.

“We are excited to have Penn Township join us in the journey to improve health and wellness as we work to make a powerful and long-lasting impact on health outcomes and happiness by building healthy communities across America,’’ said Mitch Menaged, founder of National Fitness Campaign. “The addition of the outdoor Fitness Court, along with digital wellness programming, demonstrates a tremendous commitment to the health and wellbeing within the West Grove community.”
