Independence Blue Cross offers wide range of plan options
Philadelphia, PA – Independence Blue Cross (Independence), the region’s leading health insurance organization, is reminding individual consumers that tomorrow is the deadline to sign up for health insurance if they want to have coverage they can use on January 1, 2016.
For 2016, Independence is offering 17 different HMO and PPO plans across all metallic levels including a new Keystone HMO Silver Proactive Value plan, a lower-premium option that provides the same tiered-network as the company’s popular Proactive series. Independence is also the only company to offer a “catastrophic plan” which provides basic coverage to adults under 30 or those who qualify due to extreme financial hardship.
“At Independence Blue Cross, we are dedicated to providing the safety and security consumers have come to expect from our company. Everyone deserves to start the New Year with the peace of mind that comes with knowing they’re covered.” said Paula Sunshine, Independence vice president of consumer sales and marketing. “We offer a wide variety of innovative and affordable health plans including dental, vision, and pharmacy benefits, to meet different needs and budgets.”

According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Independence has the lowest rates in the region on the Marketplace for silver and bronze level plans. Independence is also the only insurer in the Philadelphia market offering subsidy-eligible health plans across all metallic levels. These plans can be purchased through the federal Health Insurance Marketplace, directly from Independence through the website ibx4you.com, telesales agents, independent brokers, or by visiting the Independence Express, the insurer’s mobile education and retail center.
Independence’s easy-to-use website — ibx4you.com — provides consumers with a guided shopping experience to help them find the coverage that is right for them. Also available on ibx4you.com is a subsidy estimator which allows consumers to quickly determine if they may qualify for financial assistance from the federal government to help pay for their coverage.
In addition, all of Independence’s 2015 individual members have the option to keep their current health plans in 2016.
“We want our current members to understand their health plans and feel comfortable using them,” Sunshine said. “It’s the reason we make every effort to offer the same plans year-after-year, along with a consistent network of hospitals and health care professionals – the largest in our region.”
Independence will be out in the community meeting consumers where they live, work, and play to help them shop for insurance. The Independence Express, the company’s mobile education and enrollment center, will be traveling throughout the region to help consumers understand the best health plan options for their individual needs.
