Philadelphia, PA — February 27, 2017 Today health insurance executives met with President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, and Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price to discuss health care reform. Below is a statement from Independence Blue Cross President and CEO Daniel J. Hilferty on the meeting:

“We had an engaging and very productive conversation with President Trump, Vice President Pence and Secretary Price and I want to personally thank them for meeting with us, hearing our thoughts, and sharing theirs as well. It is clear that we have a mutual commitment to providing affordable, high-quality health care for all Americans.

We are very pleased by the quick action the administration took with the proposed marketplace stabilization rule. From here, we must work together to create the path forward, transitioning toward affordability and then accelerating to achieve positive, long-lasting change in the health care industry.

We look forward to continuing this important dialogue and working with the administration and Congress to create a more competitive, sustainable health insurance marketplace and to ensuring a smooth transition for members currently receiving coverage and care.”
