Independence Blue Cross executive recognized for his efforts in COVID-19 response

Richard L. Snyder, M.D., executive vice president of Facilitated Health Networks and chief medical officer at Independence Blue Cross (Independence), has been recognized by the Philadelphia Business Journal as one of the region’s “Leaders in Health Care” for his contributions in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under Dr. Snyder’s leadership, Independence helped improve access to vaccines through alliances with vybe, Centennial Pharmacy Services, and the Philadelphia Department of Health.  The company also provided vital information about the vaccine to its members, customers, and the community through a variety of channels.

Dr. Snyder has been integral to the region’s COVID-19 response. He coordinated with regional health leaders daily and advised on vaccine distribution via Philadelphia’s Vaccine Advisory Council. In March 2021, he led Independence’s effort to support the White House call to vaccinate 2 million vulnerable seniors in underserved communities.

The complete list of the Philadelphia Business Journal honorees are available online and their profiles will be published in a special section in the October 15, 2021, print issue.
