PhillyVoice highlights Independence Blue Cross (Independence) recent announcement to expand its sponsorship of the City’s bikeshare program, Indego.
Since 2015, Independence has been the title sponsor of the Indego bike share program in Philadelphia. A recent sponsorship renewal ensures financial support through 2030 and assistance with a multi-year expansion plan.
Indego currently has 150 stations and 1,400 bikes. This expansion starts with adding 30 docking stations and 400 electric bikes, with the end goal being 250 docking stations and 3,500 bikes for the city’s program. This expansion also includes moving further into both South and Southwest Philadelphia and adding services from Kelly Drive to East Falls.
“It is an honor for Independence to renew our title sponsorship of the Indego bike share system. We look forward to Indego’s continues success in advancing an equitable, healthy transportation option for residents and visitors in Philadelphia,” said Independence President and CEO Greg Deavens.
