Deavens, Marshall-Blake again named to the Philadelphia Business Journal’s ‘Power 100’ list

For the fourth straight year, the Philadelphia Business Journal named Gregory E. Deavens, Independence Blue Cross (IBX) president and CEO, and Lorina Marshall-Blake, vice president of Community Affairs at IBX and president of the Independence Blue Cross Foundation, to its annual list of the most powerful people in Philadelphia.

The Power 100 list spotlights people who have a strong impact in shaping the future of the Philadelphia region. The list is decided on by the Philadelphia Business Journal’s editorial team. Business and community leaders on the list are selected in part for carving a path forward and creating new opportunities for growth in their industries in the region.

Deavens’ profile in the list focuses on how IBX is advancing equitable, whole-person health care. It mentions the launch of the Regional Coalition to Eliminate Race-Based Medicine with regional health systems and the Independence Blue Cross Foundation’s Institute for Health Equity.

The profile about Marshall-Blake highlights the Foundation’s recent achievements, including how it became the first organization of its type to support health equity accreditation for health centers and convened the inaugural IBX Foundation Institute for Health Equity Forum in Philadelphia.

Deavens and Marshall-Blake appeared in a special Power 100 list publication issued on March 1, 2024. The Power 100 list can be viewed here. The list is presented in alphabetical order and is not a ranking.

Deavens and Marshall-Blake were previously named to the 2021 Power 100 list, the 2022 Power 100 list, and the 2023 Power 101 list.
