Experts reflect on pandemic’s effects on mental health

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, Independence Blue Cross (Independence) talked to Independence and community experts about how the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the ways in which people think about mental health and access behavioral health services.

In the resulting video, the experts address changes in the workplace, the increased use of telemedicine, persistent disparities in health care, and how Independence can support young people who have suffered losses during this time.

Featured speakers include:

  • Rodrigo Cerdá, M.D., Senior Vice President of Health Services and Chief Medical Officer, Independence Blue Cross
  • Ryan Connolly, M.D., M.S., Medical Director, Independence Blue Cross
  • Tiffany Brown, Ph.D., licensed clinical psychologist, Philadelphia
  • H. Jean Wright II, Psy.D., Deputy Commissioner, City of Philadelphia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual DisAbility Services

All four professionals are part of the expert team who support Independence’s “Know Your Mind” public health campaign focused on mental health. For more information and resources, visit ibx.com/knowyourmind.
