Independence Blue Cross is traveling throughout the community helping consumers sign up before the deadline

Philadelphia, PA  Independence Blue Cross (Independence) is meeting consumers where they live, work, and play to ensure that everyone knows how they can obtain the safety and security of health insurance.

To help consumers enroll before the January 31 deadline, Independence will be set up at multiple locations throughout the region with licensed sales agents in order to accommodate last-minute enrollees. In addition, Independence’s toll-free telesales phone line will be open for extended hours during the final days of Open Enrollment.

The Independence Express, our mobile education and enrollment center, will be traveling throughout the community to help consumers understand the best health plan options to suit their individual needs:

Throughout Open Enrollment, Independence has been increasing its efforts to reach Latino communities with Spanish-language resources. According to a report from The Pew Charitable Trusts, Latinos continue to be the most uninsured group in the country. Licensed sales agents will be available to help Spanish-speaking consumers enroll:

To complete the enrollment application, all consumers will find it helpful to have on hand the following items for all members of the family who they wish to enroll:

  • Social Security Numbers (or documented numbers for any legal immigrants who need insurance)
  • address
  • birth dates
  • information on tobacco use
  • income information (paystubs or W-2 Forms, wage and tax statements)
  • employer information, including employer name, address, and phone number;
    policy numbers for any current health insurance plans
  • information from employer about any available job-related health insurance

For 2016, Independence is offering 17 different HMO and PPO plans across all metallic levels, including a new Keystone HMO Silver Proactive Value plan, a lower-premium option that provides the same tiered-network as the company’s popular Proactive series. Independence is also the only company to offer a “catastrophic plan” which provides basic coverage to adults under 30 or those who qualify due to extreme financial hardship.
