The Philadelphia Tribune (The Tribune) and Independence Blue Cross (IBX) are launching a new phase of the award-winning Our Community. Our Health. campaign, reminding the community not to take their health for granted. This new phase lifts local voices to help people understand their health better, support caregivers, and build healthier futures.
Health literacy means being able to read, understand, remember, and use information to make decisions about your health. This could mean asking the right questions at appointments or knowing how to follow treatment instructions. It helps people stay healthy, manage health conditions, and get the care they need.
Caring for others can be rewarding, but it can also be stressful and demanding. When caregivers put their own health last, it can impact both their well-being and the care they provide. This campaign will offer simple, practical ways to support caregivers’ health.
This latest phase of the campaign will reach the Philadelphia community through a combination of social media, print ads in The Tribune, and ambassador videos. Our Community. Our Health. ambassadors are trusted local leaders who are committed to sharing reliable information and practical solutions with the community.
The campaign introduces two new ambassadors:
- Loree Jones Brown, CEO, Philabundance
- Joe Meade, SVP Government and Regulatory Affairs, Comcast Spectacor
It will also feature returning ambassadors:
- Angela Val, President and CEO, Visit Philadelphia
- Ashley Jordan, President and CEO, African American Museum
Launched in 2020, Our Community. Our Health. has focused on knowledge and actions to address health disparities in our community like heart disease, high blood, diabetes, and maternal health outcomes. The campaign will continue to highlight important health issues and support all members of the diverse communities we serve.
