PHDC’s Annual Housing Fair presented by Independence Blue Cross

Attendees can with come questions, and leave with resources, connections, and a clearer path forward!

PHDC’s Annual Housing Fair, presented by Independence Blue Cross and held at Temple University Aramark Student Training and Recreation Complex from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., is perfect for local families navigating rising housing costs, barriers to homeownership, aging housing stock, and complex systems for finding assistance. The PHDC Housing Fair brings the answers together under one roof.

The Housing Fair returns to Temple University’s campus for the fourth year in a row and is bigger than ever. This is the city’s largest housing fair and was created to address all aspects of housing. The fair has over 100 exhibitors, and over 5000 persons pre-registered to attend.

PHDC is the City of Philadelphia’s full-service community development agency and works closely with the City’s Department of Planning and Development (DPD). DPD, PHDC, and the Philadelphia Land Bank work together to execute Mayor Cherelle L. Parker’s H.O.M.E. Initiative. The Housing Fair fits perfectly with the Mayor’s H.O.M.E. Initiative, as it brings all the City’s housing-related programs and services directly to residents.

“My administration is focused on making Philadelphia more affordable and making City government easier to access,” said Mayor Cherelle L. Parker. “Through our H.O.M.E. initiative, we are investing in homeownership, home repairs and housing stability across our city. The PHDC Housing Fair puts those resources directly in front of residents, giving Philadelphians a place to ask questions, connect with experts and get the help they need.”

“People should not have to visit five offices, make 10 phone calls or search endlessly online to figure out where to turn for help with their home or housing needs,” said David S. Thomas, President and CEO of PHDC. “The Housing Fair creates a place where residents can ask questions, meet trusted experts face-to-face and leave with real resources, real connections and a clearer path forward.”

The fair provides resources for current homeowners, potential first-time home buyers, renters, landlords and developers interested in learning more about finding, paying for, maintaining, and producing housing.

“Independence Blue Cross has proudly supported the PHDC Housing Fair since its inception because we know that health is shaped by more than medical care alone. Safe, stable housing is a key part of overall well-being and a thriving community. Our team is glad to be on-site at the event again this year to support the communities we serve and connect people with resources that can make a meaningful difference in their lives,” said Steve Fera, IBX executive vice president, Public Affairs and president, Government Markets.

Attendees have access to mortgage lenders, realtors, insurance agents, contractors, homebuilders, housing counselors from City-funded agencies, representatives from relevant City of Philadelphia departments, legal services organizations, and other professionals in the housing industry.

Homeowners and renters who need repairs to their homes can get help on the spot from PHDC to start the application process for two popular repair programs-Basic Systems Repair Program (BSRP) and the Adaptive Modifications Program (AMP). PHDC will feature information about the City of Philadelphia’s Turn the Key initiative. The goals of the initiative are to increase affordable homeownership opportunities, support first-time homebuyers in building equity, and help families secure their financial future through homeownership.
