City & State Pennsylvania named Steve Fera, EVP of Public Affairs and president of Government Markets at Independence Blue Cross (IBX), an “Impact Icon” on its 2025 Impact Award list. The Impact awards honor individuals driving meaningful changes in their communities and industries.
Fera was recognized for his 35-year commitment to IBX, and his leadership in expanding access to care. City & State PA spotlighted his role in helping to launch the Independence Blue Cross Foundation, which delivers sustainable solutions to improve community health and well-being.
“When you start out, you just want to get a good job. But life works in a certain way … My duties at IBX kept running toward service to the broader community, especially to those in need, as well as folks at the most vulnerable point in their lives, dealing with health issues,” said Steve Fera in his profile in the publication.
