Independence Blue Cross’s Blue Crew, a dedicated team of associates committed to community service,
participated in a variety of volunteer events across the Greater Philadelphia area during National
Volunteer Week, April 20-26. Since its inception in 2001, the Blue Crew has invested hundreds of
thousands of hours in initiatives that strengthen neighborhoods and uplift communities throughout the
region.
Blue Crew volunteer activities included preparing a special spring celebration event for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia; assisting in the kitchen chopping vegetables, cooking, prepping, and packaging meals for MANNA; and planting and cleaning up at the iconic FDR Park in partnership with the Fairmount Park Conservancy.
In 2024, nearly 1,400 Blue Crew volunteers gave more than 6,700 hours to nonprofit organizations
through 185 volunteer projects. In addition, IBX associates logged nearly 3,000 volunteer hours
independently with nonprofits throughout our region.
