Independence Blue Cross celebrates National Health Education Week at Independence LIVE

Health and well-being programs at new customer experience center support national initiative

Philadelphia – October 17, 2016 – This week, Independence Blue Cross (Independence) recognizes National Health Education Week, a national effort sponsored by the Society for Public Health Education. During the five-day education initiative, the company will host a variety of nutrition seminars, fitness classes, and cooking demonstrations from October 17-21, 2016.

Open to both Independence members and the community, Independence’s National Health Education Week events will be held at Independence LIVE, located on the second floor of 1919 Market Street in Philadelphia. With a main focus on building community health, programs include:

October 17:

  • Yoga on/off the mat

October 18:

  • Family Fitness
  • Interval Training

October 19:

  • Stretch and Relaxation
  • Healthy Cooking Class: Ode to Oats
  • Zumba®

October 20:

  • Mindfulness Meditation
  • Family Fitness

October 21

  • Nutrition Education

National Health Education Week is held annually during the third full week of October and aims to bring national attention to public health issues while advancing consumer awareness of the role of health education and health promotion in society.
