Michelle Histand, director of Innovation at Independence Blue Cross, led a panel on innovation strategy for the Arts + Business Council for Greater Philadelphia Defining Innovation Speaker Series at the Suzanne Roberts Theater. The event featured Hal Gregersen, executive director of the MIT Leadership Center and senior lecturer at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
The event focused on ideas in Gregersen’s latest book, Questions are the Answer, which provides insights into how leaders in business, government, and society can ask questions that serve as catalysts for game-changing solutions.
“Great questions dissolve barriers to creative thinking and channel the pursuit of solutions into new, accelerated pathways,” said Histand, as she opened the conversation. The panel was made up of local leaders who are taking a creative approach to problem solving, including: Liz Brown, managing director, Backstage Capital; Anjali Chainani, director of Policy, City of Philadelphia; and Adam Rubin, associate partner, Fahrenheit 212.
In a video interview, Histand and Gregersen talk more about how businesses can generate better questions to create new ideas for addressing challenges.
