
Independence Blue Cross (Independence) announced the promotion of Michael Zipfel to Vice President of Corporate Compliance. In his new role, Zipfel will oversee all aspects of Independence’s corporate compliance programs.
“Mike has been a valuable resource over his nearly two decades with Independence’s legal team, and I know that he will continue to excel in this new role. I am confident Mike will continue to drive and support Independence’s commitment to integrity and empower our associates to uphold the standards of an ethical workplace,” said Thomas Hutton, executive vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary for Independence.
Zipfel, who joined Independence in 2005, has held several roles within Independence’s Legal Department. Most recently, he served as the organization’s Associate Deputy General Counsel. In this role, he was responsible for the management of commercial litigation, regulatory compliance, and governmental inquiries.
Zipfel earned his undergraduate degree from Villanova University before attending Penn State Dickinson Law, where he earned his juris doctorate. He earned his LL.M. in trial advocacy from Temple University Beasley School of Law.
