Independence Blue Cross reminds those eligible for Medicare to look at their plan options before Medicare Annual Enrollment Period ends on December 7

The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period, a time when individuals can sign up or make changes to their Medicare plans, ends on December 7. As the area’s most popular Medicare Advantage carrier in Southeastern Pennsylvania supporting 108,000 local Medicare Advantage members*, Independence Blue Cross (Independence) wants to be sure that eligible individuals secure the best plan that meets their needs. Some important questions to consider when comparing plans include:

  • Is the health plan from a company you know and trust?
  • Are your preferred doctors, specialists, hospitals, and pharmacies in the network?
  • Are your prescription drugs covered?
  • Does the health plan include dental, vision, and hearing coverage?
  • Does the health plan offer an over-the-counter allowance, and other flex card options?
  • What is the health plan’s Star Rating?

“There are so many Medicare Advantage plan options, choosing the right one can seem like an overwhelming task,” said Dr. Heidi Syropoulos, Medical Director for Government Markets at Independence Blue Cross. “Our goal is to help simplify that process. We know the Philadelphia five-county area, we have relationships with local doctors and all the hospitals, and we’re here to make the process easier everyone.”

Independence’s 2024 Medicare Advantage offerings feature enhanced benefits and access to the largest network of doctors and hospitals in the region. There are many plan options, including Personal Choice 65SM PPO plans where some offer reduced premiums and a Part B Giveback, as well as increased allowances for dental, vision, hearing, an over-the-counter allowance, an additional flex card allowance to reduce costs at a dental, vision, or hearing provider, and coverage when you travel through our PPO traveler benefit all for no additional monthly premium on PPO plans. Independence is also offering some plans with zero-dollar monthly premiums and zero-dollar copays for primary care visits.
