Independence Blue Cross earned U.S. News & World Report’s Honor Roll for Best Medicare Advantage Plan companies for 2023

Independence Blue Cross (Independence) was included in U.S. News and World Report’s Honor Roll of Best Medicare Advantage Plan companies for 2023. The Honor Roll is based on an analysis U.S. News and World Report did of insurance companies’ offerings in each state based on their 2023 Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Star Ratings.

Independence’s Keystone 65 HMO Medicare Advantage plans earned a prestigious five out of five stars for the 2023 Star Ratings and its Personal Choice 65SM PPO plans earned a strong four-star rating. Having a five-star ranking provides people who are Medicare-eligible the flexibility of a Special Election Period. This allows them to enroll in a 5-star Medicare Advantage plan now through November 30, 2023.

“The opportunity to offer plans year-round has been extremely beneficial to our members. Normally, members can only switch Medicare plans either during the Annual Election Period or if they’re in a Special Election Period because of a qualifying life event, such as losing their current coverage or changing their place of residence. Now, thanks to our rating, members can enroll in our five-star Medicare Advantage plan all year,” said Kortney Cruz, senior vice president of Government Markets at Independence.

Earning five stars two years in a row reflects an ongoing effort by Independence to provide high‐quality Medicare Advantage plans that meet or exceed all of CMS’s quality benchmarks. It also shows that Independence has outstanding customer service and excels at helping members obtain high-quality care and access programs that help them get and stay healthy.

U.S. News and World Report’s defines a Best Insurance Company as one whose plans were rated at least three out of five stars by CMS and whose plans have an average rating of 4.5 or more stars within the state.
