Independence Health Group, Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania, and Safeguard Scientifics, Inc. have given a $150,000 seed investment to VitalTrax. This is the group’s first investment from their $6 million digital health funding initiative announced in December 2016.

Founded in 2016 by serial entrepreneur, Zikria Syed, VitalTrax provides cloud-based software for patients to search for clinical trials, apply to become a volunteer and stay involved during the trial. Its electronic assessment tool, which is used to collect data directly from patients, more closely resembles social media than traditional clinical research documents, while still conforming to regulatory requirements.
