On September 19, Independence Blue Cross welcomed 52 new participants to the “Know Your Value” employee development and empowerment program. This is the third consecutive year Independence has partnered with Mika Brzezinski, founder of “Know Your Value” and co-host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, and Comcast NBCUniversal to offer the program.

The theme for Independence’s 2019-2020 “Know Your Value” program is “Be More of Yourself.” The curriculum focus is on Accountability, Courage, and Empowerment – three of the company’s core values.

“Know Your Value” kicked off with two special events to celebrate and welcome the group of select and diverse Independence associates. On September 19, participants attended a leadership panel and workshops with Independence and Comcast executives. The event was held at Independence LIVE. Then on September 20, the associates joined Brzezinski, Jeanie Heffernan, Independence Chief Human Resources Officer, and other notable speakers at the Comcast Center in Philadelphia. Here, Brzezinski shared her nine key pieces of advice for not only knowing your value, but communicating it.

Through “Know Your Value,” Independence associates will participate in development programs, workshops, networking events, and leadership sessions with executives from across the organization. Topics will include:

  • Mentoring
  • Self-care
  • Negotiating
  • Change and resilience
  • Owning your voice

The 52 “Know Your Value” participants collectively represent 366 years of service with Independence and its affiliates.
