Independence Blue Cross and Trinity Health sign new long-term agreement

Philadelphia – March 29, 2019 – Independence Blue Cross (Independence) and Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic have signed a new five-year agreement, effective April 1, 2019. The agreement – which includes Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, Mercy Philadelphia Hospital, Nazareth Hospital, St. Mary Medical Center, and Saint Francis Healthcare in Delaware – demonstrates a continued commitment between Independence and Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic to provide members and patients with access to quality, affordable care.

“We are pleased to have the new agreement in place and feel confident knowing that our members can continue to receive care from Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic and the physicians they employ,” said Richard L. Snyder, M.D., executive vice president of Facilitated Health Networks and chief medical officer at Independence Blue Cross. “The hospitals within Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic have a rich history of providing access to a diverse local community and are known for the strong sense of service, neighborhood sensitivity, and tradition they have established. We admire and respect that track record and look forward to continuing the strong relationship we have built with them.”
