
Philadelphia, PA – Independence Blue Cross (Independence) is proud to join national and regional leaders to support Philadelphia’s annual Wawa Welcome America Festival. Free, fun-filled activities will take place in various locations throughout Philadelphia from June 29 through July 4.
Wawa Welcome America 2019 Festival events
- Philadelphia’s Historic District Block Party
- Free museum days
- Family movie nights
- PECO Go 4th and Learn
- Multiple days of concerts and fireworks
- July 4 activities, including a parade and a day-long party and concert on the Parkway
GRAMMY® Award-winners Meghan Trainor and Jennifer Hudson will perform on the Independence Blue Cross Stage at the Wawa Welcome America July 4 concert. The free show will also feature the Philly POPS® BIG Band.
On July 4, NBC10 and Telemundo62 will broadcast the days’ activities, including:
- Celebration of Freedom Ceremony
- Salute to America Independence Day Parade
- Wawa Welcome America July 4th Concert and Fireworks
Independence will also participate in a special, ticketed screening of Once in a Hundred Years: The Life & Legacy of Marian Anderson. The movie won Best Documentary Feature at the 2019 Philadelphia Independent Film Festival. The screening is part of “HERstory: Uplifting Every Voice,” an event on July 3, at 2 p.m., at the Philadelphia Film Center.
At the event, Independence VP of Community Affairs Lorina Marshall-Blake will share inspirational remarks about her personal journey and the beauty of being yourself.
