The City of Philadelphia welcomed the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry (Scottish Rite) for its annual convention over Memorial Day Weekend. The Scottish Rite is an organization whose mission includes teaching and emulating the principal of Brotherly Love, among other community values, across the globe.

As part of the visit, the Scottish Rite hosted a health fair in South Philadelphia and a health symposium at the Downtown Marriott Philadelphia. Independence Blue Cross served as sponsor for both events, which reached 350 community residents to provide resources and education on healthy living and well-being.

Kenyatta D. Donley, Community Development Manager at Independence, and Angelica Grace, Community Development Specialist, spoke at the symposium on understanding Medicare and what information is important to know when choosing a plan for yourself or loved ones.

The Scottish Rite has roots in the city through its headquarters in South Philadelphia and two affordable housing units for seniors that it operates in the area through its nonprofit foundation.
