For the sixth consecutive year, Independence Blue Cross (Independence) showed its support of women’s well-being as the presenting sponsor of the annual Be Well Philly Boot Camp. Held on Saturday, June 1 at the Drexel University Recreation Center, the event featured a full day of activities designed to empower women in their health and fitness journeys.
Attendees were treated to fitness classes from the region’s best instructors, cooking demonstrations, healthy eating tips, and a marketplace filled with health-focused vendors. Independence Director of Member Marketing Erin Thurston joined the festivities to highlight the company’s commitment to Fearless Fit activities and initiatives and to introduce the keynote speaker — personal trainer, yoga instructor, and founder of KG Strong, Katie Gould.
Independence’s support of Be Well Philly also includes the Be Well Philly Health Hero Challenge, which recognizes champions of health and wellness who are dedicated to helping others live healthier lives. The Health Hero Challenge winner receives a $15,000 donation to charity of his/her choice, and two runners-up receive a $2,500 donation to charity.
Nominations for the Be Well Health Hero Challenge are open now and will run to July 3, 2019.
