Independence Blue Cross hosted representatives of the Polish health delegation, including the Deputy Director of the National Health Fund, who were visiting the United States to learn more about integrated care delivery systems. Independence’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Richard Snyder welcomed the visitors and led presentations about key topics of interest, including value-based care, quality management, case and disease management, and consumer engagement. In addition, Dr. Snyder presented an overview of HealthShare Exchange, the region’s health information exchange, which Independence helped launch nearly five years ago.
Senior executives from the University of Pennsylvania Health System, PJ Brennan, MD and Roy Schwartz, spoke about the System’s leading health care capabilities and a recently signed ground-breaking, five-year contract with Independence that promotes value to our members while strengthening both organizations’ emphasis on coordinated patient care, exchange of critical administrative and clinical data, and shared accountability for both quality and cost of care.
