For the fifth year, Independence Blue Cross (Independence) proudly supported women’s well-being as presenting sponsor of the popular Be Well Philly Boot Camp. The annual sellout event, held this year on Saturday, June 2 at the Drexel University Recreation Center, aims to motivate, educate, and empower women to get healthy and fit. The day featured:
- All levels of fitness classes from the region’s best instructors
- Inspirational speakers and wellness sessions benefiting the mind, body, and soul
- Cooking demonstrations and healthy eating tips
- A bustling marketplace filled with vendors focused on balanced, healthy lifestyles
Independence Vice President of Corporate Communications Donna Farrell spoke during the Empower Hour about Independence’s commitment to helping our region stay healthy, fit, and fearless before introducing keynote speaker, instructor, and fitness company owner Alexis Rose Artis.
Independence’s support of Be Well Philly also includes the Be Well Philly Health Hero Challenge, which recognizes champions of health and wellness who are dedicated to helping others live healthier lives. The Health Hero Challenge winner receives a $10,000 donation to charity of his/her choice, and two runners-up receive $2,500 donation to charity.
Nominations for the Be Well Health Hero Challenge are open now and will run to July 3, 2018.
