The Sounds of Independence choral group lead a joyful singalong with the Sheppard School students in 2019
The COVID-19 pandemic isn’t stopping Santa from visiting the Isaac A. Sheppard School in West Kensington. Independence Blue Cross is keeping the annual holiday tradition of support alive by purchasing and delivering school supplies, headphones, and a winter coat for each student at the company’s adopted Philadelphia public school.
The Sheppard School principal and counselors requested specific, much-needed items to ensure that all of the children are properly equipped to learn and thrive from home. Teachers and staff will help distribute the items to each student after the winter break.
Traditionally, Independence associates generously participate in the annual campaign, which provides wrapped holiday toys and new winter coats for Sheppard School students. The day the gifts are delivered to the school is always a special one. The students are treated to a spirited sing-along of holiday classics by Independence’s associate signing group, the Sounds of Independence, and a visit from “Santa” and “Mrs. Claus.”
For nearly 30 years, Independence has provided the Sheppard School with year-round support in the form of sponsorship and volunteerism.
