Independence Chief Medical Officer joins panel discussion on the future of health care reform

Independence Blue Cross Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer Richard L. Snyder, M.D., yesterday joined a panel of health care experts, convened by the Philadelphia chapter of the Association of Health Care Journalists, to discuss the future of health care reform.

The panel brought together some of the region’s most prominent health care journalists to listen to health care experts discuss in depth the future of health care reform and what themes they may see during this transformational time. Charlotte Sutton, health and science editor at The Philadelphia Inquirer, moderated the panel. In addition to Dr. Snyder, the panel included the following distinguished experts:

  • David Grande, M.D., MPA, assistant professor of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine and a senior fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics
  • Scott E. Harrington, Ph.D., professor of health care management at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and a senior fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics
  • Mark V. Pauly, Ph.D., the Bendheim professor of health care management at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and a senior fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics
  • Robert I. Field, J.D., M.P.H., Ph.D., professor of health management and policy and law professor at Drexel University and an adjunct senior fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics
