Independence Blue Cross’s innovation leader speaks at industry health conference

Philadelphia, PAIndependence Blue Cross (Independence) Vice President of Corporate Development and Innovation Terry Booker spoke today at the opening session for the America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) 2014 Operations and Technology Forum. The conference is one of the health insurance industry’s leading conferences, attracting a wide variety of experts from top companies across the county.

Held in Phoenix, Arizona, the conference attracts health care professionals from various sectors of the industry and focuses on critical issues such as health care costs, consumer engagement strategies, mobile and digital health, and new technologies to drive business. Booker participated in a panel discussion with health care leaders from Kaiser Permanente Ventures and Wellpoint, Inc. moderated by Susan Dentzer, senior policy adviser for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Booker’s panel discussed the topic, “Health Insurer of the Future”, which looked at the fundamental changes in the way that the insurance industry works. Specifically the discussion addressed how the fee-for-service model is being replaced, and how companies are looking to new business models and technologies to change the way they do business.

Terry Booker is responsible for growing Independence’s core businesses in commercial, individual, Medicare, and Medicaid business lines. Booker also oversees Independence’s corporate growth through diversification efforts that include acquisitions, partnerships, affiliations, and development of new companies.
