Independence accepts national award for its 2018 Federal Employee Program plan for the second year in a row.
Independence Blue Cross recently accepted the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association 2018 Federal Employee Program (FEP) Plan Excellence Award for the second straight year. The company was recognized for its financial, operational, and clinical performance.
Independence was presented with the award last month at the FEP National Conference in Minneapolis, MN. The company is one of 14 licensed Blue Cross Blue Shield plans to receive the award for 2018.
“This recognition is a testament to our team’s daily commitment to ensuring our federal employee members have an excellent customer experience,” Nicole Gold, Independence VP Operations Customer Service and Client Setup.
The FEP is Independence’s second largest customer with more than 76,000 members. Overall, the FEP covers approximately 5.3 million federal employees, retirees, and their families.
“I’m thrilled that our company continues to excel, even after the performance standards were raised for 2018,” said Peter Panageas, Independence senior vice president, Sales. “It’s comforting to know that our federal employees and retirees feel supported by our associates and the company.”
Associate teams in several areas of the company helped achieve this recognition:
- Customer Service
- Care Management
- Claims
- Sales
- Population Health
- Finance
- Informatics
- Internal Audit
Celebration events were held in July honoring the teams associated with the award.
