CIO.com and Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business recognized Independence Blue Cross (Independence) as one of its Analytics 50 recipients, a new award which highlights national companies successfully using analytics to solve business challenges.

Ashley Masterson, PhD, manager, medical cost and business analytics for Informatics at Independence, accepted the award at a ceremony today held on Drexel’s campus.  CIO.com, a resource for technology and business leaders, and Drexel selected Independence for our use of predictive analytics to design a successful Medicare Advantage marketing campaign that helped better identify the particular health plan our consumers would want and choose.

A panel of leaders in academia and industry judged the nominations based on the specific business challenge we identified, the innovativeness of the analytics solution, and the overall impact on the organization.

The Analytics 50 represents a broad spectrum of industries, ranging from pharmaceuticals and healthcare to sports and media. Other Philadelphia area winners include the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Comcast, and the Philadelphia 76ers.
