Independence Blue Cross (Independence) continues to shape the discussion on health care innovation at the 2017 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society National Conference (HIMSS17) which takes place February 19-23 in Orlando, Florida.
As one of the original supporters of Philadelphia’s regional health information exchange — HealthShare Exchange (HSX) — we are participating in a live demonstration at the HIMSS17 Interoperability Showcase. The presentation, “On the Road to Cancer Care 2020”, illustrates the future of health care by displaying the electronic care coordination that is involved in a young women’s cancer care. With support from several of the most technically advanced organizations in health care, including NantHealth Inc., this demonstration walks attendees through the coordinated sharing of electronic health records, while highlighting cancer immunotherapy treatment based on genetic testing.
Industry experts from Independence are also featured speakers during The Digital & Personal Connected Health Forum at HIMSS17 — a meeting designed to address the challenges that come with embracing digital health. Independence Chief Architect of Enterprise Architecture Gregory Barnowsky will co-host a session with Clinical Data Architect Michael Gould titled “Delivering on the Promise of Connected Health.” This engaging discussion explores the ways that digital patient engagement and data enables payers and providers (i.e. insurers and physicians) to improve care, expand access, and drive down costs.
