Philadelphia, PA – Yesterday, Independence Blue Cross (Independence) launched its 2015 campaign for the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ). Independence’s campaign — Give Fearless — builds on the spirit of the company’s Live Fearless advertising campaign, and on Independence’s long history of associate volunteerism. Give Fearless, which runs through September 19, provides associates with the opportunity to attend a UWGPSNJ agency-fair, pledge support to benefit UWGPSNJ, and volunteer for community service projects as part of the Days of Caring initiative.
“I am proud of Independence’s role as a leader in community service, and I have the utmost admiration for the commitment and enthusiasm that our associates demonstrate every year during the United Way campaign,” said Daniel J. Hilferty, president and CEO of Independence and 2015-2016 annual fundraising campaign vice chair of UWGPSNJ. “Every day we work to improve the lives of the people in our region, and the extraordinary work of the United Way supports that mission.
On Wednesday, September 16, Independence associate volunteers will lend a hand at the following community sites:
- American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA
- AstraZeneca Hope Lodge, Cheltenham, PA
- Cradles to Crayons, West Conshohocken, PA
- Dimner Beeber Middle School, Malvern, PA
- Impact Thrift, Montgomeryville, PA
- MANNA, Philadelphia, PA
- Philadelphia Senior Center, Philadelphia, PA
- Project HOME, Philadelphia, PA
- SHARE Food Program, Philadelphia, PA
- Variety Club Camp & Developmental Center, Worcester, PA
On Saturday, September 19, Independence associate volunteers will rally to assemble teacher toolkits, update classroom libraries, and build reading corners for the Days of Caring Signature Site event held at General George G. Meade School.
Independence’s campaign is part of UWGPSNJ’s 365 Days of Caring, a year-round effort to achieve collective impact through corporate volunteerism.
