Independence Blue Cross hosts events to help those on Medicare enroll in Medicare Advantage plans

Independence Blue Cross is hosting free seminar events from October 15 through December 7 to help those eligible for Medicare learn more about its 2022 Medicare Advantage plans. The events are hybrid, meaning participants can come in person or join online. They also vary based on whether a participant is a current or prospective Independence member.

Current Independence Members

Current Independence members can register for a live virtual educational event or an on-demand webinar from the comfort of their home at a time that is convenient for them. Those attending the live virtual events can participate in a question-and-answer session with a Medicare specialist. All the events include the following:

• Overview of Independence’s 2022 Medicare Advantage plans
• Medicare basics
• Dental, vision, and hearing benefits
• Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (Part D) benefits
• Medicare Supplement plans
• 2022 5-Star Quality Ratings

To register for an event, members can visit For questions about their current Medicare Advantage plan or 2022 options, they should call the number on the back of their member ID card. Representatives are available seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Prospective Members

Prospective members can register to attend an in-person or virtual sales seminar. They can also talk to a licensed sales agent to help them choose and enroll in an Independence Medicare Advantage or Medicare Supplement plan by calling 877-393-6733 (TTY/TDD: 711) seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
All the events include the following:

• Overview of Independence’s 2022 Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans
• Medicare basics
• Embedded benefits such as dental, vision, and hearing
• Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (Part D) benefits that include the Insulin Savings Program
• 2022 5-Star Quality Ratings

Independence’s 2022 Medicare Advantage Benefits

Independence’s 2022 Medicare Advantage offerings feature enhanced benefits and new Personal Choice 65SM Elite Rx PPO and zero-dollar monthly premium Personal Choice 65SM Saver Rx PPO plans. The offerings also include Independence’s tried-and-true Keystone 65 HMO and Personal Choice 65 PPO plans with zero-dollar monthly premiums, zero-dollar Tier 1 preferred generics by mail or at preferred pharmacies, no medical or prescription deductibles, and the comfort of not needing referrals.

With more than 80 years serving the Philadelphia five-county region, Independence supports over 90,000 local Medicare members in everything from choosing the right health plan to accessing the care they need to understanding their costs.

Independence teams are ready to help those on Medicare sign up for plans during Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period, taking place October 15 through December 7. This year’s plans focus on members’ whole health.

Those signing up for an Independence Medicare Advantage plan in 2022 will also continue to benefit from core offerings like a free fitness membership, and routine podiatry and chiropractic coverage. Plus, members can use a nurse hotline 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and access the personal health visit program through which members can meet with a nurse practitioner in their home to discuss their health, medications, and/or any other health-related questions they may have.
