Independence Blue Cross helps seniors enroll in Medicare plans

Independence hosts interactive and on-demand webinars and in-person events

Independence Blue Cross (Independence) is offering free educational webinars to help Medicare beneficiaries understand Independence’s 2021 plan options and benefits so they can choose the best health plan for their individual needs — all from the comfort of their own homes.

The events, which will take place during Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) — October 15 through December 7 — help educate prospective and current enrollees and help them feel confident in selecting their Medicare plan.

Interactive and on-demand webinars for Independence members

Current Independence members can view an on-demand webinar on their own schedule. Or, they can participate in a live, interactive webinar to chat with a Medicare specialist and participate in question-and-answer sessions.

Both the live and on-demand webinars will discuss:

  • Medicare basics
  • 2021 Medicare Advantage plans
  • Dental, vision, and hearing benefits
  • Medicare Part D benefits
  • Medicare Supplement plans

Members can register for the webinar by visiting www.ibxmedicare.com/memberAEP. Members may also call the number on the back of their ID card if they have questions about their current Medicare Advantage plan or 2021 options.

On-demand or one-on-one consultation for prospective members

Prospective members may call licensed sales agents to help them choose and enroll in a Medicare plan or learn more about Independence’s Medicare offerings by visiting www.ibxmedicare.com. They can sign up for one of several free on-demand webinar about Medicare basics and Independence’s plan offerings.

Seniors who prefer an in-person experience, can call 1-800-303-0656 (TTY/TDD: 711), 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week, to schedule a one-on-one consultation with a sales agent at one of 16 convenient locations. They may also meet with a sales agent without an appointment at one of these drive-through locations:

  • Delaware Valley Brokerage (1296 Veterans Hwy, Bristol, PA 19007). Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Ignitist (2060 Detwiler Road, Harleysville, PA 19438). Monday and Friday, 9m. – 6p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • DVBS Medicare Enrollment Center (1305 West Chester Pike, Store 22, Havertown, PA 19083). Monday and Saturday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

For accommodations of persons with special needs at meetings, seniors should call 1-877-393-6733 (TTY/TDD: 711).

Enrollment rules and options

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services generally permits individual Medicare beneficiaries to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan or Part D plan only during the six-week annual enrollment period, from October 15 through December 7. Individuals also have one opportunity to change to another Medicare plan after January 1, 2021, and before March 31, 2021.
