Enrollment events planned throughout region
Philadelphia, PA – At Independence Blue Cross (Independence), we know that education and engagement around the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is essential. That’s why we are meeting consumers where they live, work, and play to ensure that everyone knows how they can obtain the safety and security of health insurance.
Members who would like to shop or make changes to their plan need to update their Marketplace application by December 15 in order to be sure they have the plan they want on January 1, 2015. Those who are enrolling for the first time will also need to enroll by December 15 in order to have coverage on January 1.
The Independence Express, our mobile education and enrollment center, will be traveling throughout the community to help consumers understand the best health plan options to suit their individual needs:

This year Independence is offering 14 different health plans on Pennsylvania’s federally-facilitated Health Insurance Marketplace for coverage effective January 1, 2015, including HMO and PPO plans across all metallic levels and a “catastrophic plan” to provide very basic coverage to adults under 30 or those who qualify due to extreme financial hardship.
Open Enrollment for the new health plans runs from November 15, 2014 through February 15, 2015. Enrolling within this time frame allows consumers to avoid paying a penalty. However, consumers looking for health insurance to begin January 1, 2015 must enroll by December 15, 2014.
