Independence Blue Cross CEO speaks at 11th World Health Care Congress

Daniel J. Hilferty shares insights on innovative collaborations and partnerships during keynote pane

Philadelphia, PAIndependence Blue Cross (Independence) President and CEO Daniel J. Hilferty joined national industry leaders today at the 11th Annual World Health Care Congress, which runs from April 7-9, for a keynote panel discussion on health care partnerships and collaborations. Hilferty discussed Independence’s past, present, and future innovative collaborations and partnerships at the event held at Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.

Anita Brikman, senior vice president, Office of Strategic Communication, National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, moderated the keynote panel, “Partnerships and Collaborations Evolving the Health Care Business Model.” In addition to Hilferty, the panel included these distinguished experts:

  • Victor Dzau, M.D. – president and CEO, Duke University Medical Center and Health System
  • Diane P. Holder – executive vice president, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center
  • J. Knox Singleton – CEO, Inova Health System

“I believe that together the most forward-thinking leaders in health care — working with visionary leaders in technology and the entrepreneurial community — can achieve the dramatic changes in the health care system you and I and our families need to get healthy and stay well,” said Hilferty.

In Hilferty’s opening remarks, he also addressed how Independence is collaborating with physicians and hospitals to create groundbreaking new models of cost-effective superior care. He shared how Independence is forging powerful partnerships with Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies and other health care leaders around the country to harness technology and create innovative new products and services.

The 11th Annual World Health Care Congress convenes decision makers from all sectors of health care with the shared goal of improving quality, outcomes, and access while reducing costs.
