Daniel J. Hilferty honored for his leadership, commitment, and contributions to the community
Philadelphia, PA – Daniel J. Hilferty, Independence Blue Cross (Independence) president and CEO, was honored yesterday with the Community Hero Award for his extraordinary leadership, commitment, and contributions to the community. Hilferty received the distinction at the second annual Heroes Among Us event, which supports the Survivor’s Fund established by the Fraternal Order of Police. The event was held at the Union League of Philadelphia.
“It is truly an honor to receive this year’s Community Hero Award,” said Hilferty when he received the award. “The real heroes are the brave men and women of the Philadelphia police department who put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe.”
In Hilferty’s remarks, he also acknowledged event cochair and last year’s Community Hero Award honoree — David L. Cohen, executive vice president of Comcast Corporation.
The Survivor’s Fund provides financial assistance and support to the families of Philadelphia police officers who have been injured or killed in the line of duty.
