Independence Blue Cross President and CEO Daniel Hilferty was recently named “Marketer of the Year” by St. Joseph’s University’s collegiate chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA). A St. Joseph’s alumnus, Hilferty was recognized for his ability to strategically adapt during the pandemic to share critical public health messaging.
From the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Independence Blue Cross (Independence) was committed to communicating with its members, customers, and the community on the importance of taking steps to safeguard our health. Independence launched a multimedia public service campaign, Beat COVID-19, to underscore the message “We’re in this together.”
The ongoing campaign highlights how everyone can help slow the spread of COVID-19. The campaign has also thanked frontline workers, encouraged the community not to forego necessary medical care during the pandemic, and more.
Independence’s campaign includes messages in regional print media, TV, radio, digital, and social media. Hilferty has appeared in several ads in the campaign.
Previous AMA honorees include Pope Francis, former professional basketball player Allen Iverson, restaurateur Stephen Starr, and Philadelphia Flyers mascot Gritty.
