Independence Senior Community Affairs Specialist Yasseline Diaz last month won the celebrated “Women at the Top” award from the Latino news organization, Al Dia. Nominated by her peers, Diaz was one of six Latinas in the Philadelphia region selected by Al Dia’s panel of judges based on the impact she is making in her community.
At Independence, Diaz works tirelessly on the Blue Crew corporate volunteer program as well as the annual United Way associate giving campaign. Diaz also co-leads a committee of the Latinos con Proposito (Latinos with Purpose) Associate Resource Group, which provides support to local Latino communities through charitable drives and fundraisers. Her efforts have forged a partnership between the Blue Crew and Latinos con Proposito to renovate the library at the Isaac Sheppard Elementary School in North Philadelphia which was recognized as a significant achievement by the judges.
A lifelong resident of the Greater Philadelphia region, Diaz grew up in North Philadelphia and recently moved to Southern New Jersey. She is bilingual and proudly celebrates her family’s Puerto Rican heritage.
