Independence Blue Cross appoints Lorena Plaza as Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis

Independence Blue Cross (Independence) announced that Lorena Plaza has been appointed vice president of Financial Planning and Analysis.

In her new role, Plaza is responsible for leading Independence’s annual and strategic financial planning as well as processes for forecasting, cost alignment, and analysis of results. Plaza reports to Gregory E. Deavens, chief financial officer at Independence.

Plaza brings extensive experience in global finance and strategic management to the organization. She joins Independence from Barclaycard, where she served as director of Strategic Cost Management and led cost strategy, reporting, and forecasting of cost performance, and developed strategies to mitigate future cost growth. Prior to that, Plaza was vice president of Financial Planning and Analysis and the chief risk officer for Lombard International Assurance, and the head of International FP&A for MetLife.

Plaza is a graduate of Universidad Nacional de Luján in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She currently resides in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
