Heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States – causing a third of all deaths each year. To raise awareness of women’s heart health during American Heart Month in February, Independence Blue Cross hosted a fundraiser benefitting the Go Red for Women initiative of the American Heart Association.
On National Wear Red day, Friday February 3, Independence associates wore red to help spread the word about heart health and stroke prevention. They also donated nearly $1,500 for the Go Red for Women initiative which supports critical cardiovascular research as well as educational programs to inspire women to make lifestyle changes for better heart health.
