For the ninth consecutive year, Independence Blue Cross encouraged our associates, members, area employers and the community to step out from behind your desks and take a lunchtime walk toward better health during our annual National Walk @ Lunch Day event held Wednesday, April 27, 2016.
Grey skies didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits in Center City where thousands walked, strolled, and danced around the perimeter of historic Rittenhouse Square to the infectious sounds of the Philadelphia School district drumline Mad Beatz, while DJ Ron kept the energy high. Walkers who completed the three-lap course received a special gift — an insulated lunch bag to keep with the walk at lunch theme.
The National Walk @ Lunch Day festivities continued in the center of Rittenhouse Square with representatives from Independence’s wellness team, Indego, SnapKitchen, and several local non-profit organizations.
Most importantly, by walking with us at National Walk @ Lunch Day, you joined organizations across the country in demonstrating how you fit regular exercise into your busy schedules. Bravo!
Snap and share
Many of you took a quick break from walking to snap a selfie and show us how you get #FearlessFit on Twitter or Instagram. If you walked at an event outside Center City or didn’t get a chance to share your photo with us, it’s not too late.
Post your photos by June 29 — and stay tuned as we announce weekly prize winners in our #FearlessFit photo contest. The next winner could be you!
