A record-setting more than 700 Independence Blue Cross associates, family, and friends joined President and CEO Gregory Deavens for the 2024 Philadelphia Heart Walk on Saturday, November 2 at Citizens Bank Park. Independence is a longstanding sponsor of the annual Heart Walk — the American Heart Association’s (AHA) premier event for raising funds to save lives from heart disease and stroke. Deavens served as this year’s event chair.
Funds raised through the Heart Walk help the American Heart Association provide support for more research, lifesaving CPR training, medical breakthroughs, and champions for equitable health. Independence associates were among the top two local corporate fundraisers, contributing more than $115,000 to the AHA.
IBX has long supported initiatives to improve heart health, including sponsoring several interactive kiosks designed to teach Hands-Only CPR to Greater Philadelphia residents and visitors, including one at Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church.
