Greg Deavens Named One of Philly’s 150 Most Influential Philadelphians

Gregory E. Deavens, president and CEO of Independence Blue Cross, was again recognized in Philadelphia magazine’s annual list of the most Influential people in the city.

Deavens was ranked 12th among a diverse roster of 150 influential figures, including business leaders, elected officials, athletes, entertainers and more. These individuals are recognized for their exceptional contributions and visionary leadership, which are propelling our region forward into a brighter and more dynamic future.

Philadelphia magazine, acknowledging his significant impact, described Deavens as an “independent thinker” with a “well-documented passion for improving health equity.” This accolade is based on his role in the Regional Coalition to Eliminate Race-Based Medicine, an initiative that seeks to address systemic racism and barriers in healthcare. Furthermore, Deavens helped launch the Advanced Network for Gene-Based Therapeutics, a program designed to help patients access potentially life-changing gene-based therapies from best-in-class health care providers, with the goal of achieving better health outcomes across Philadelphia.

Deavens was previously featured on Philadelphia magazine’s Most Influential lists in 2021 and 2022.
