Gregory E. Deavens, president and CEO of Independence Blue Cross (IBX), was named Chair-Elect of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia (Chamber).

Deavens will begin his two-year term as Chair of the Board of Directors in October 2024, succeeding Mike Innocenzo, president and CEO of PECO, who has held the role since 2022.

“I am honored to accept this opportunity to serve the Chamber. This is a time of tremendous hope for our region, and I look forward to working together with members of our business and civic community to create jobs, grow businesses, and improve the quality of life for all,” Deavens said.

Deavens has made significant contributions to the Chamber’s mission since being appointed to the Chamber’s Board and Executive Committee in 2021. He serves as Chair of the Chamber’s Policy, Legislative and Research Committee, which advises the Chamber on legislative and regulatory strategies and positions on the state and local level.

“I’m pleased that Greg will serve as our next Chair of the Chamber,” Innocenzo said. “Greg is a remarkable leader who will further evolve the Chamber’s approach to supporting our region’s leading businesses, while creating new pathways to opportunity across our diverse communities.”

Former IBX CEOs Dan Hilferty, Joe Frick, and Fred DiBona have also led the Chamber’s Board of Directors.

The Chamber works with members, investors, and stakeholders, to advance Greater Philadelphia as a top global destination for business and a leader in inclusive growth. As the metro-regional chamber of commerce serving the 11-county, tri-state Greater Philadelphia region, the Chamber convenes and connects business, government, and civic leaders to drive economic growth and prosperity for all.
