The Boy Scouts of America Cradle of Liberty Council honored Steve Fera, Independence Blue Cross executive vice president of Public Affairs, with the “Good Scout” award. The recognition was given at the 11th Annual Corporate Campfire Gala in November.
The “Good Scout” Award is given annually to a local business leader who demonstrates outstanding service to the community and exemplifies the ideals of the Scout Oath and Law. His service to the community includes working to increase access to health care, overcoming health disparities, and advancing practical approaches to health policy.
When accepting the award, Fera discussed the importance of volunteering both time and talents to make a difference in the community. He acknowledged the Scout leaders who volunteer to improve communities by investing in children and teaching the values of Scouting.
The Boys Scouts of America serves nearly 17,000 young people across the region. The Annual Corporate Campfire Gala is the organization’s largest annual fundraiser.
