This Sunday, 40,000 runners, including approximately 12,000 Independence Blue Cross (Independence) members, will hit the pavement for the annual Blue Cross Broad Street Run. This springtime tradition is the nation’s largest 10-miler and draws participants from across the country. We’re so proud to be the presenting sponsor for the 21st consecutive year!
We encourage runners, spectators, and racing enthusiasts to visit the Race Expo at the Philadelphia Convention Center Hall G on Friday, May 5 and Saturday May 6. While you’re there, consider taking 15 minutes to learn how to save a life through Hands-only CPR. The training sessions will be conducted onsite, courtesy of the Penn Mobile CPR Project, which is funded by the Independence Blue Cross Foundation through its Healthy Hearts Initiative.
Hands-only CPR sessions will be held every half hour from:
- Friday, May 5 4 to 6 p.m.
- Saturday, May 6 2 to 4 p.m.
This year, we’re particularly proud that nearly 200 members of our Blue Streaks — one of the largest corporate running teams in the city— will race down Broad Street. Check out our Blue Streak stories from the Run media partners featured on NBC10 and Telemundo 62.
Good luck, runners!
