Gregory E. Deavens, president and CEO of Independence Health Group, is among 12 leaders recognized by Modern Healthcare in its 2023 Excellence in Governance awards for their “flexibility, tenacity, and influence” as board members.
The award honors influential individuals who serve on the board of directors for health care organizations and foster advancement in culture, mission, and performance.
Deavens was cited for his leadership at Hartford HealthCare, where he completed a three-year term as chair of the board of directors in June 2023 and served as vice chair from 2014 to 2017. Deavens joined the Hartford HealthCare corporate board of directors in 2013 after five years on the board of Hartford Hospital.
Deavens also was recognized by Modern Healthcare in 2021 as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare.
