Erin Thurston, director of Member Marketing at Independence Blue Cross (IBX), appeared on a recent “Healthy You” segment on NBC10 to discuss the 2026 Open Enrollment for health insurance in Pennsylvania.
Open Enrollment is the annual period when people can sign up for a health plan or update their current coverage. This year, it began on November 1, 2025. Pennie, Pennsylvania’s state-based exchange, extended the deadline to December 31 for coverage that starts on January 1, 2026.
IBX members who are already enrolled and satisfied with their plans do not have to do anything — coverage will renew automatically. Thurston stressed the importance of reviewing your renewal notice carefully to understand any updates for next year.
